Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in thee.
You have probably heard the saying that time heals all things. Well it is not hard to understand what that means. All of us have had times in our lives when we have been hurt or have gone through very trying and difficult circumstances. We think that things will never be the same again and that normal living, as we have known it, is a thing of the past. But, after awhile things seems to heal over and life does get back to normal. As you look back on those times, you realize that they were not as severe or as bad as you thought that they were.
The same is true of great and exciting times too. You can have a wonderful experience, some great happening in your life, like when you first met your true love. You think that there will never be another hard time or dull time as long as you live. It seems that you have blessings coming so abundantly each and every day that there will never be any room again for gloom or despair.
I have noticed that time has a way of bringing all of life’s experiences to a common elevation, things seem to always level out. The highs are eventually brought down and the lows are raised up. If we are not careful, we can let this mystery of time’s effect cause us to slip into a mediocrity where we are neither joyous nor depressed, happy nor sad. It seems that we are just existing.
This is true for the Christian and non Christian alike. We will all go through hard times. But, for the Christian, God will, if we let Him, use time and His presence to heal us and bring us back up. He wants us to walk on a constant high plain above and beyond the mediocrity of just existing. He wants us to abide in that place where He can provide joy beyond measure and blessings abundant. Don’t le the things of God slip form your life, keep them ever before you as you keep your mind stayed on Him.
