Pressing On Together

Written By: Mechele McMichael

Philippians 3:14

I press toward the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Life is a mixture of excitement and disappointment, successes and failures, joys and sorrows. This is true even of the Christian's life. What do Christians do when they experience pain, when dreams are shattered, when relationships go sour? They "press on," with confidence of God's love and ability to sustain. They know that He is present with them and will never leave nor forsake them. If they have messed things up, they depend on His complete forgiveness and restoration of that sweet fellowship and healing from past hurts. They know that the past is taken care of and that the future is secure. They have learned to live in the power of the present.

They press on because by His life, His death, and His resurrection, Christ Jesus has made them and all those who have believed on Him to be His own. A special people with a special calling in life. It is important as Christians to recognize the need to press on together in fellowship, not only with God, but with each other. There is a special bond and strength to be found in pressing on together.

The lessons learned from serving and being served are of a premium value. In so doing, there is encouragement for one another to press on toward "the goal" of Christ-like living in this life, toward the prize of that high calling that each has in Christ. Yes, even in hard and trying times, there is victory. When one has a goal in mind, when there is a focus on that goal to the point that all of life itself revolves around fulfilling that call or reaching that goal, life takes on a much deeper meaning.

Have you made that quality decision to lay all else aside and strive for the goal of the high calling of God in Christ? It will make all the difference in the world in your life. You will have a reason to press on.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I am endued with power and ability to press on in the Christian life to the fulfillment of my calling.
