So Walk Ye In Him

Colossians 2:6

As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him

We as Christians sometimes make the Christian life much harder than it is. We have this idea that we are responsible to try to act like Jesus and after much trying and failing, we usually just give up in condemnation and defeat and say that it is not possible to really live the Christian life like the Bible teaches that we are to live it.

Maybe you have felt that same sense of defeat and guilt. You know that in your heart, you really do want to live a victorious and overcoming life. You really do want your life to bring glory and honor to the Lord, but somehow you just can seem to get it all together.

Well I have good news for you. You are not supposed to be able to live the supernatural kind of life that Jesus did. In fact, it is an impossible life for you or anyone else to live. The only one who was able to live that kind of life was Jesus Himself. There a many trying to act like Jesus, but all they are really doing is being a poor imitation of Christ.

There has to be an answer to this, because the Bible teaches that we are to do the works of Jesus. That is right, we are and this verse today tells us how. Notice that it says, as you have received the Lord, so walk in Him. Now here is the secret. How did you receive the Lord? Was it by working and striving? Was it by things that you did or did not partake of? Was it by keeping the Ten Commandments or by some other religious actions or deeds? No, it was not. It was a simple act of faith in the work that Jesus had already done for you at the cross where He died to forgive you of your sins. You simply received by faith what He had already done. Now, in the same way, you are to by faith trust Jesus to live His life through you by the power of His Spirit who lives in you.

MY WORD CONFESSION: As I by faith, received Christ Jesus as my Lord, so I walk in Him by faith too.
