1 Timothy 1:11-12
According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust. And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, in that He hath counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry.
I wonder how many believers have taken the time lately to simply thank God for the privilege of being saved. God has done so much for us and so many just seem to take it all for granted. It is almost as though people think that God owed them their salvation or that He is in some way responsible for their individual sins. You know what I mean, people say things such as, “Well, God created man even though He knew that man was going to sin beforehand, so He should pay for man’s sin.”
The fact is that God created man as the highest of all of His creation in spite of His foreknowledge that it was going to cost Him the life of His own son. He was willing to pay to price, because to Him it was worth it. Now this should make every man realize the high and important place that man has in the whole scheme of God’s plan.
The apostle Paul is telling Timothy that he is very much indebted and amazed that God would commit something as valuable and precious as the spreading of the gospel to him. Maybe you have never thought of that yourself. The most important message ever delivered has been entrusted to you and me, the believers, to give to all the world. He could have chosen to let angels spread the good news, but He didn’t, He put that precious message in the hands of His children.
The next thing that Paul expresses amazement and thanksgiving for is the fact that He has been put into the ministry. You may be saying that this part doesn’t apply to you since you are not called into the ministry. Well, I have news for you, you have also been called into the ministry. Every believer is called to be in full time ministry as an ambassador for Christ. What a privilege this is.
