Showing God’s Love

Romans 5:8

But God demonstrated His love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

You have probably heard the familiar saying that a picture is worth a thousand words. It is not hard to understand what this means. We all know that it is much easier to comprehend something when you can actually see it instead of having to be told about it.

In the case of God’s love, He didn’t just say that He loved us, He showed His love. Just saying it would not have been enough, His love had to be demonstrated for us to be able to really comprehend it. The greatest demonstration of love ever imagined was when God allowed His only begotten Son to die on the cross for each and every human on the earth. This would have been remarkable enough if man had been crying out to God in repentance of his sin, or if he had been seeking God with his whole heart, but none of these were the case. It says that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. In fact, the ones that Jesus came to save were some of the very ones that put him to death. Now that is a real picture that all the words in the world could not adequately describe.

It is a privilege and the responsibility of all believers to convey this message to the world around us. Paul, in writing to Timothy told him to be an example of the believer. That means live a life that shows what a believer is supposed to be like. Live a life that shows what the nature of God is. Show the love of God to the world around you, not just by what you say, but more importantly, by what you do. This is the essence of our calling on this earth, to show the love of God with those for whom that love was demonstrated.

The love of God has been talked about, it has been written about, it has been the subject of many songs, but it never speaks so loudly as it does when it is demonstrated by those who possess it. Today, pray that God’s love will fill you and will be demonstrated through you to someone who needs to know that God loves them Be a vessel to carry the love of God to those you meet. Don’t just talk about the love of God, show God’s love through your actions.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I am a recipient of God’s love and I will demonstrate the perfect love of God to all that I meet today.
