Choices, Choices, Choices

Deuteronomy 30:19

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.

Life is a learning experience. The longer we live, the more that we learn. It has been said that experience is a good teacher, if we live through it to learn from it. That is so true, too bad that it takes a lifetime of experience to learn so many of the things that we need today. Well, when you let experience be your teacher you just have to wait till something comes along to learn from it.

There really is a better way and surely a much safer way to learn than through experiences. Even though many of us are too hard headed to learn this way, the Bible is an excellent source of information on how to live life. In it, is detailed all the key decisions of life and how to make them. It tells us what to do and what not to do and even gives us the answer to how to find the power and ability to do the right things.

The secret is in making the right choices. You can know what is right and what is wrong, but just knowing isn’t enough. You have to choose what is right over what is wrong. I have people say to me that they know that what they are doing is wrong, but they choose to keep on doing it. That sounds so silly, but we have all done it from time to time. The fact is, knowing what is right and choosing to act on what is right is sometimes easier said than done. But, if we are going to succeed in life, we have to make the right choices.

A group of prisoners were in a chapel meeting one day. The leader was talking about choices that people make and one of the prisoners said that none of us would choose to be here in prison, but our choices are what got us here. What a truth. So often we as Christians end up in places and situations that we would not have chosen to be in, but it was our choices that got us there.

God is on your side, he wants you to make the right choices so that you can prosper. He is always there to show you the right thing to do and then to empower you to do that right thing. The choice is yours, the two roads of life and death stretch out before you, choose life.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I have many choices before me today, by God’s grace and His power, I will make the right choices.
