That Great Day

1 Thessalonians 4:17

Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

A great day is coming, heaven’s gates will open wide, and all who know the Lord will enter in, to join with their loved ones who in Jesus Christ have died. Eternal hallelujahs will begin. Then the Lord Himself will greet us, oh what joy will be that day, when with the smile of the proudest father, He’ll look at us and say, “Welcome home, children, this is the place I’ve prepared for you. Welcome home children, now that your work on earth is through. Welcome home children, here where I am you will always be, forever rejoicing with me.

These words are the lyrics to a song that was popular several years ago. Even though the song has lost some of its popularity, the impact of the song will never fade in its popularity and ability to move those for whom it was written. If you are one of God’s children you can look forward to that great and wonderful day, the day when you enter into the place that God has prepared for you.

We have all told our children the popular fairy tales and how that in the end, they all go off together to live happily ever after. I know that sometimes, this too seems like a fairy tail. It sounds too good to be true and we are accustomed, here in this life, to be skeptical of things that sound too good to be true. The old saying is that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Those who put their faith in this world and its promises will always be let down, but the Bible says that those who trust in God will never be disappointed.

Yes, there is a great day coming. The signs of the times say that it will not be in the very distant future. As Christians, live with great expectancy and joy, it might be today. As one who is not a Christian, invite Jesus into your life today, to save you and to forgive you. Don’t miss that great day, for surely it is coming soon.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I have put my faith and trust in Jesus and am looking forward with joy to that great day that is coming.
